WHAT IS FIRE?

Fire is a chemical reaction (otherwise called combustion) in which energy in the form of heat is produced. This only occurs when oxygen reacts rapidly with fuel or other materials, producing flame, heat, and light. This chemical reaction also converts fuel and oxygen into carbon dioxide and water. In addition, it is an important tool that has been used since prehistoric times. It has a wide array of uses such as heating, cooking, energy, and landscaping.

THE

FIRE

TRIANGLE

The fire triangle is a simple model that illustrates the three essential components required for a fire to occur: fuel, heat, and oxygen. These elements are often depicted as the vertices of a triangle.
